Background
In 2012, a natural gas provider on a small island in Southern China purchased four of INNIO Group’s Waukesha® 16V275GL + engines to supply natural gas to Hong Kong. Commissioned in 2013, the engines are used for gas compression.

The high-horsepower Waukesha 275GL® + lean-burn engines combine robust construction with advanced technology, excelling in fuel flexibility, efficiency, power output, and emissions control. Designed for performance reliability in harsh environments, they offer wide fuel tolerance and high elevation performance before derate. In upstream and midstream gas compression applications, Waukesha 275GL + engines support gas gathering, processing, transmission, and storage. They also are suitable for oilfield power generation. Selected for their excellent reputation in China, the engines have run an average of 50,000 hours per unit. China Diesel Support Services (CDSS) Ltd. performs daily maintenance and inspections according to the Waukesha maintenance schedule, with technicians stationed on site 365 days a year. All engines have received ESM®2 controller upgrades for enhanced operational efficiency, reliablity, and performance.
REsults
The Waukesha 275GL + engines have powered natural gas compression at the Southern China site for the last six years without a single failure shutdown.
